San Francisco—LinkedIn Corp. has updated its mobile apps, focusing on streams of information shared by users. Also, for the first time, the apps will show ads in the form of small texts to smartphone users.
LinkedIn's update of its apps for Apple iOS and Google Android mobile devices adds a personal newsfeed, with articles noted and shared by a user's professional network, including status updates, connection updates, news, posts from users' influencers, group posts and job changes.
LinkedIn's updated mobile app will also run what the company calls “a small test” of ads in the form of “sponsored content”" in the streams of smartphone users. The company already offers sponsored content on the desktop computer and iPad versions of its site.
