New York--LivePerson Inc., a 7-year-old pioneer in real-time, online customer service technology, on Monday introduced its LivePerson Sales Edition. The new product allows online salespeople to actively pursue potential customers who land on their Web site and engage them in online conversation through the use of a "floating .gif" on the site. LivePerson has signed up 14 customers for the product, which Microsoft's b-to-b unit, bCentral, has tested for the past couple of months. LivePerson CEO Rob LoCascio said the new technology is a good fit for b-to-b marketers. "Companies getting the most use out of it are companies that are selling high-margin products," he said.
