Prairieville, La.--Lobos Services Inc., a trade show and directory company, confirmed that is has acquired Coal Age, Engineering & Mining Journal and affiliated properties from Primedia Inc.

Terms of the deal, which was agreed to in June, were not disclosed.

Primedia Business Magazines & Media, a unit of Primedia, had announced that it was closing the two publications earlier last month. In addition to the two magazines, the deal includes the Longwall USA trade show and related Web sites.

Peter Johnson, president and owner of Lobos, helped launch the trade show when he was at Maclean-Hunter before the event was sold to Intertec, the predecessor of Primedia Business.

“This is a very rich franchise,” Johnson said of Coal Age and the affiliated properties. “I couldn’t understand why they were closing those magazines. This year had been a little tough, but everyone expects it will come back next year.”

Lobos was one of several bidders that stepped forward once it was announced the magazines would be shuttered.
