Local digital ad budgets remain strong

Chantilly, Va.—Digital advertising aimed at local markets, which continues to demonstrate stronger growth than other local ads, will experience a compound annual growth rate of 12.7% through 2016 in the U.S., according to a report by media research company BIA/Kelsey. Local online ad revenue will climb from $21.2 billion in 2011 to $38.5 billion by 2016, according to the company's “U.S. Local Media Forecast.” The rate of digital ad growth outstrips total local media expenditures, expected to rise 2.6% annually through 2016, to $151.3 billion, according to the report.
