Local online ad growth continues rapid pace; e-mail to see increased spending

Portsmouth, Va.—Local online advertising is expected to grow to $7.7 billion next year, up 31.6% over 2006, according to Borrell Associates, a research and consulting company. While local banner ads still dominate, Borrell said, online ad spending will in the near term continue to migrate to targeted formats such as e-mail and paid search.
