San Francisco—LookSmart President-CEO David Hills resigned effective Wednesday, according to an SEC filing, reported first on the Search Engine Land blog. The filing indicates he told LookSmart on July 26, and said that “Mr. Hills did not resign as a result of any disagreement with the company on any matter relating to the company’s operations, policies or practices.” Search Engine Land reported he decided to leave to start his own online media advisory services company.

LookSmart’s board tapped current board Chairman Edward F. West as interim president-CEO. He is currently managing director of Sage Partners, an advisory services firm.
