Lyris acquires stake in Australian marketing company

Emeryville, Calif.—Online marketing company Lyris Inc. is expanding its services into the Pacific Rim, acquiring a majority stake in Australia-based marketing company Cogent Online. Lyris first invested in Cogent, headquartered in Sydney, in 2010. With Lyris taking controlling interest, the company will be renamed Lyris APAC. Adrian Saunders, Cogent's founder, has been named senior-VP and general manager of the division. Last year, Lyris expanded into Latin America with the acquisition of Argentine marketing consultancy Intaface Marketing. Previously, the company entered Europe by acquiring U.K. email marketing company Facultas.
