M&A activity up sharply in marketing, information and digital media sectors

New York—Mergers and acquisition activity in the marketing, information and digital media sectors surged in November, according to a report released Tuesday by investment bank Petsky Prunier.

The bank said 143 deals took place in November, an increase of 120% compared with November 2009. The value of these deals totaled $6.5 billion, a jump of 27% from the year-earlier period.

Petsky Prunier said the digital media/commerce category was the most active segment, with 49 transactions. Deals in the advertising and promotion segment had the highest aggregate value for the month, at $2 billion.
