Mackler resigns as CEO of Cygnus Business Media, replaced by co-CEOs

Published on .

Fort Atkinson, Wis.—Cygnus Business Media announced late Monday that Carr Davis and Anthony O’Brien have joined the company as co-CEOs, succeeding Paul Mackler, who is leaving the company after six years as president-CEO.

Davis and Carr specialize in new media. In 1993, they founded FDCH eMedia, which, among other things, created new syndication markets for TV text for such media outlets as CNN and NBC News and licensed content from Reed Business Information to create specialty online products.

The changing of the guard at Cygnus comes amid rumors the company may be in play. However, Kathy Scott, a spokeswoman for Cygnus Business Media, told BtoB that the company is “not for sale.”

Last month, Cygnus Publishing President Richard Reiff left the company to acquire Reed Business Information’s new products division and launch his own private equity-backed b-to-b media firm, Advantage Business Media.
