Magazine ad revenue up 9.5%

New York--Magazine advertising revenue increased 9.5% to $883.5 million in January, compared with a year earlier. Eleven of the 12 advertising categories measured experienced a revenue increase last month. The exception was the direct response category. "Given the uncertainty in the economic and political environments, we are pleased to see that 2003 is starting on a strong note," said Ellen Oppenheim, exec VP-chief marketing officer, Magazine Publishers of America, in a statement.
