Ad pages, however, were down 3.2% compared with the same period last year.
Seven of the 12 major ad categories registered ad revenue growth. Direct response was among the categories that experienced declines, down 7.4% to $79.0 million.
Automotive, drugs & remedies and home furnishings, all consumer categories, registered the most significant growth.
"It's encouraging to see sustained revenue growth for several of the major categories in June," Ellen Oppenheim, exec VP-chief marketing officer of the MPA, said in a statement.
