Magazine closures outpace launches in first three quarters

New York—In the first nine months of this year, 383 magazines closed and 259 were launched, according to data released Tuesday by MediaFinder.com, an online database of U.S. and Canadian periodicals.

Additionally, MediaFinder.com said 64 publications ceased their print editions but continued online. It also said that b-to-b publications accounted for 75 of the new launches, 130 of the closures and 24 of the conversions to online-only.
