Magazine Publishers of America moves annual meeting to New York

Published on .

New York--Citing the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks as well as the economy, the Magazine Publishers of America and American Society of Magazine Editors have announced that they are moving their annual magazine conference to New York. The conference, which will be held at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers Oct. 21-23, was originally scheduled for Phoenix. Nina Link, president-CEO of the MPA, said in a statement: "Many of our member attendees as well as speakers expressed their reluctance to leave their New York-based offices during such challenging times." She added that the change was made to accommodate the majority of MPA members who are based in the New York area.
