New York--Though magazines may continue to suffer amid the media recession, the latest numbers from the Magazine Publishers of America's Publishers Information Bureau suggest an overall improvement. Magazine advertising revenue for September increased 9.2% from a year earlier to $1.8 billion. Pages were up 2.6% to 24,756.2. Ten of the 12 major ad categories tracked registered increases, including the media and advertising and the direct response categories. PIB revenue numbers for August increased 2.7% from a year earlier to $1.1 billion.
