Mainstream Data acquires Newscom

Salt Lake City—Mainstream Data has acquired content provider Newscom from Tribune Media Services and McClatchy Co., which each owned a 50% share of the company. Financial terms were not disclosed. Newscom represents more than 1,115 information companies, including Agence-France Press, the BBC, Deutsche Presse Agentur, Jupiterimages, McClatchy-Tribune Information Services and Reuters. Newscom will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mainstream Data and retain its Washington, D.C., headquarters. It is scheduled to open a sales office in New York later this summer.
