Mohamed Elbaradel, Nobel Laureate and former director general emeritus of the International Atomic Energy Agency, teamed with Peter Warwick, president-CEO of Thomson Reuters, Legal, for the Feb. 1 panel discussion at ALM's LegalTech New York trade show at the Hilton Hotel. “The Rule of Law and the Role of Information in Verifying Compliance in Developing Nations” was moderated by Howard Goller, political affairs journalist for Reuters. Featured topics included technology, infrastructure and the dynamics of emerging nations. “Our goal [for] this forum was to spark ideas and discuss opportunities for combining digital technology and the human spirit in promoting justice and the rule of law in an increasingly complex global environment,” Warwick said. ElBaradei and the IAEA, a United Nations intergovernmental organization, were dually awarded the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize for their “efforts to ensure nuclear energy, for peaceful purposes, is used in the safest possible way.” The three-day conference offered more than 60 seminars on innovative technologies and management. ALM, an integrated media company, oversees market-leading brands such as The American Lawyer, Corporate Counsel, The National Law Journal and Real Estate Forum.
