New York—Ad agency veteran Jon Mandel on Tuesday joined media giant VNU as CEO of NielsenConnect, a new business unit.
VNU said NielsenConnect would draw information from the dozens of VNU divisions, such as ACNielsen and Nielsen Media Research, and package it in new ways for clients.
Mandel joins VNU from WPP Group’s Group M, where he was chief of strategic solutions. Before that, he was chairman of MediaCom U.S., a Group M company. Group M reportedly has no plans to name a successor to Mandel.
VNU Wednesday reported that its third-quarter revenue rose 2% to $1.2 billion, from $1.1 billion in the same period in 2005. Earnings fell 29% to $94.6 million, from $130 million.
