Marchex acquires IndustryBrains

Seattle—Search technology company Marchex on Wednesday announced it has acquired IndustryBrains, a site-specific, contextual advertising company, for $30.6 million plus transactions costs of $15.6 million cash and $15 million in stock.

Marchex said the deal will enable it to add traffic to its distribution network through IndustryBrains’ specialized vertical and branded Web site relationships.

IndustryBrains’ relationships with online properties include BusinessWeek Online, Forbes.com and Ziff Davis’ online properties.
