Marketing, ad execs face recruiting challenges

Menlo Park, Calif.—Almost 40% of marketing and advertising executives report challenges finding skilled creative professionals, according to a survey from creative staffing agency The Creative Group. The survey found hiring managers at midsize advertising agencies with 50 to 99 employees reported the greatest difficulty, with 61% of respondents saying it was somewhat or very challenging. The report was based on 500 telephone interviews, conducted in November, with marketing and advertising executives. One-third of those surveyed said they are looking to fill design or marketing roles in the first quarter of 2013. Midsize agencies are expected to see the most hiring activity, with 62% of advertising executives reporting they plan to add staff. Account services, social media and media services are the specialties in greatest demand, the survey found.
