Marketing expert Weber launches W2 Group

Waltham, Mass.—Larry Weber, founder of the Weber Group and Weber Shandwick Worldwide, has launched W2 Group, a marketing services company focusing on digital technology.

Backed by private investors, W2Group will introduce and acquire marketing technology and services companies. Its first acquisition is Racepoint Group, a PR agency for the technology sector. Terms were not disclosed.

W2 is also launching Digital Influence Group, a communications company that will specialize in constituency management through digital channels.

The company also plans to expand into mobile marketing and next-generation Web services.
