McGraw-Hill, CME Group may form joint venture

Published on .

New York—McGraw-Hill Cos. and the CME Group are discussing a joint venture that would place stock indexes such as the Dow Jones industrial average and the S&P 500 under one roof, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The story said the talks between the two companies began more than a year ago. The story also said McGraw-Hill would own a majority stake of the joint venture if the deal were to be approved. CME acquired a 90% ownership stake in the Dow Jones Indexes last year in a deal with News Corp.'s Dow Jones & Co.
