New York—McGraw-Hill Cos. and the CME Group are discussing a joint venture that would place stock indexes such as the Dow Jones industrial average and the S&P 500 under one roof, according to a report
in The Wall Street Journal
. The story said the talks between the two companies began more than a year ago.
The story also said McGraw-Hill would own a majority stake of the joint venture if the deal were to be approved. CME acquired a 90% ownership stake in the Dow Jones Indexes last year in a deal with News Corp.'s Dow Jones & Co.
