New York—McGraw-Hill Cos. Wednesday reported second-quarter earnings grew 25.4% to $277.1 million from $220.0 million in the same period last year. Revenue rose 12.5% $1.7 billion compared to the same period in 2006. Revenue in the second quarter for the Business-to-Business Group, which includes BusinessWeek
, rose 7.9% to $223.1 million. However, ad pages for BusinessWeek
dropped 20% in the second quarter, according to the Publishers Information Bureau.
Still, the company’s Information & Media unit, which houses the b-to-b group and also includes Aviation Week and construction industry title Sweets, saw its overall revenue grow 4.7% in the second quarter, to $249.9 million from $238.0 million in the same period last year.
