MCI WorldCom, Sprint in merger talks

New York--MCI WorldCom, Clinton, Miss., and Sprint Corp., Westwood, Kan., are in talks on a deal the would combine the two telecommunications giants and provide a formidable challenge to AT&T Corp., according to reports from various media outlets. It is said that Sprint's PCS wireless business would be a boon for MCI WorldCom, which does not have a nationwide wireless network. No deal is imminent, The Wall Street Journal reported.
