Media Metrix to buy Jupiter Communications

New York--Internet and digital media measurement company Media Metrix Inc. announced Tuesday it has agreed to acquire Internet research company Jupiter Communications Inc. in a stock deal valued at $414 billion based on Monday's closing share price. The new company, which will be called Jupiter Media Metrix, will offer a host of Internet-related services to businesses, including measurement, analysis, events and advice. Tod Johnson, chairman-CEO of Media Metrix, will have the same titles at the new company. In early trading Tuesday, Media Metrix's share price dropped nearly 11% to $25.25, while Jupiter's share price nudged upward 0.27% to $23.06.
