Mercor Media, ZweigWhite merge

Published on .

Chicago—Mercor Media and Natick, Mass.-based consulting firm ZweigWhite completed a merger this week to form Zweig White Information Services, according to Dick Ryan, formerly president of Mercor, who is president-CEO of the combined company. ZweigWhite founder Mark Zweig will be vice chairman of the new company.

The merger brings together Mercor—which publishes magazines such as CE News and Structural Engineer, aimed at the architecture, engineering and construction industry—and ZweigWhite, a research and consulting firm that provides fee-based information and advice to the same market.

The move is further confirmation of the trend for media companies to add "must have" information and other fee-based services to core advertising-based revenues. Private investment company Cardinal Growth helped complete the deal.
