Meredith reports lower fourth quarter earnings

New York--Publisher and broadcaster Meredith Corp. reported lower fiscal fourth-quarter earnings, citing the weak advertising economy. Meredith said it earned $20.3 million, or 40 cents a share, for the quarter ended June 30, compared with $22.1 million, or 43 cents a share, for the same period last year. Meredith's publishing division had fourth-quarter revenues of $202.4 million, compared with $210.7 million a year earlier. Broadcasting revenues were $67.6 million compared with $72.9 million a year earlier.
