MeritDirect lands Penton lists

White Plains, N.Y.—MeritDirect announced it has been tapped by Penton Media to exclusively manage all of the company’s lists, which comprise more than 1.6 million subscribers and customers in niche b-to-b markets, including industrial and business management, engineering and technical, industrial safety, and hospitality and government.

Penton reaches those markets through its magazines, trade shows, conferences and online media, as well as custom media. The list portfolio includes 10 databases, 37 postal lists and 23 e-mail lists.

Prior to appointing Merit, Penton managed all lists internally. Last week, along with announcing the appointment of new CEO David Nussbaum, Penton said it had dissolved its internal list sales department in Cleveland and laid off six employees as a result.
