Stamford, Conn.--MeritDirect L.L.C. has filed a lawsuit to prohibit former partner Chad Slater's new company, Integrated Direct Marketing L.L.C., from competing against the list brokerage. A hearing in the case has been set for March 17 in Superior Court in Stamford. Slater told BtoB, "I've not violated any agreements with my former partners." He left MeritDirect last November and, according to his former employer, signed a non-compete agreement in February 2000. Direct Media Inc., a MeritDirect competitor that has developed a business alliance with Slater, was named in the suit along with Slater and Integrated Direct Marketing. The suit was filed last Friday.
