Merrill Lynch forecasts global online ad spending growth of 35%

New York—Global online ad spending will reach $11.6 billion this year, up 35% over 2005, according to a report released Thursday by Merrill Lynch.

In a forecast issued earlier this year, Merrill Lynch had projected online ad spending growth of 33% for the year.

China will see the highest growth in online ad spending this year (up 50%), followed by the U.K. (46.4%), France (45%), Australia (42.6%), South Korea (30.5%) and Japan (30%).

The report also projects online ad spending will reach $14.5 billion in 2007, up 24% over 2006.
