MetaFacts acquires ZD's Technology User Profile

Encinitas, Calif.--MetaFacts, a technology market research firm, announced Thursday it has acquired the Technology User Profile service and database from Ziff-Davis. The Technology User Profile is a semiannual study of computer usage in U.S. businesses and homes. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Tokyo-based Softbank Corp., which owns 70% of Ziff-Davis, is selling off the media company piece by piece. Major units remaining unsold include ZD Events and ZDNet. The fate of these units is expected to be decided before Christmas.
