Michael Dell back at helm of namesake PC maker

Round Rock, Tex.—Dell Inc. announced Wednesday after the market close that Michael Dell will reassume the role of CEO, effective immediately. Dell, who will remain chairman, replaces Kevin Rollins, who resigned. Dell founded the PC maker based on a then-groundbreaking, direct marketing, made-to-order model in 1984. He had served as CEO until 2004, when Rollins took over.
