Rooney has led his sales team to new advertisers as The Wall Street Journal has introduced new sections, such as “Greater New York.” In the third quarter, the first complete quarter after the April launch of “Greater New York,” advertising rose 30% from a year earlier. Print and digital advertising revenue has increased the past four quarters.
