Why: Rooney stepped into the newly created role of chief revenue officer of the Dow Jones Consumer Media Group, including The Wall Street Journal, in May 2007. In one of his first moves, he led a restructuring that combined the print Journal, Wall Street Journal Digital Network (including Barron's Online, MarketWatch.com and WSJ.com) and the international sales and marketing staffs into a single entity.
