Micklethwait promoted to editor in chief of 'The Economist'

London—John Micklethwait has been promoted to editor in chief of The Economist, from U.S. editor of the British weekly. Micklethwait joined The Economist in 1987 as a financial reporter. He set up the magazine’s Los Angeles bureau, where he worked from 1990 to 1993. He served as New York bureau chief before becoming the London-based U.S. editor. He suceeds Bill Emmott, who stepped down in February.
