Microsoft, Concentric forge small-business marketing trail

Published on .

Redmond, Wash.--A pair of heavy hitters announced Tuesday separate plans to increase the options for marketers at small and midsize businesses. Microsoft Corp., Redmond, Wash., partnered with Internet auctioneer FairMarket, Woburn, Mass., to launch bCentral Auctions, a site that allows members of Microsoft's small-business portal to buy and sell business products across FairMarket's affiliate network. Meanwhile, Concentric Network Corp., a San Jose, Calif.-based vendor of high-speed access and Web site hosting, added eSavingsCenter to its corporate Internet portal. The service allows small and midsize businesses to market to other businesses through Internet coupons and rebates.
