Microsoft, government to discuss settlement

New York -- Various media outlets reported Friday that Microsoft Corp., Redmond, Wash., plans to meet formally with U.S. Department of Justice officials and attorneys general from 19 states to discuss a settlement in the landmark antitrust case against the software giant. A settlement offer submitted earlier by Microsoft was reportedly deemed unacceptable. In an interview with CNN, Microsoft Chairman and CEO Bill Gates said he wants to settle the case.
