Microsoft introduces new ad units, changes logo

Redmond, Wash.—Microsoft Corp.'s advertising division is introducing online ad units to address multichannel advertising campaigns using platforms such as PCs, tablets, Xbox, Skype and smartphones. The ad units—Magnetic Canvas, Mindmap, Polymorphic, Swell and VPAID—vary in size and function. Microsoft created them based on six Display Rising Stars ads promulgated by the Interactive Advertising Bureau. Separately, the company announced a revamped company logo, a square that retains the familiar quadrants in red, blue, green and yellow but without its former wavelike appearance. Also, the “Microsoft” logotype is now a roman rather than italic font.
