Microsoft to invest $100 million in VerticalNet

Redmond, Wash.--Embattled software giant Microsoft Corp. will take a $100 million equity stake in VerticalNet, the Horsham, Pa.-based b-to-b transactional portal. As part of the alliance, Microsoft will market VerticalNet (www.verticalnet.com) across its b-to-b-aimed Internet properties, such as the Microsoft small-business site and Microsoft.com. Additionally, VerticalNet will integrate Microsoft's Internet software into its operating systems.
