Published on .

Redmond, Wash.—Microsoft Corp. announced that Chris Capossela has been named senior VP-consumer channels and central marketing group.

Capossela will succeed Mich Mathews as leader of Microsoft's corporate marketing function and oversee the new consumer channels group, which brings together Microsoft's retail, mobile operator and distribution groups. Last month, Mathews announced she will be leaving her post as senior VP-central marketing group at the end of the summer.

Capossela was previously a senior VP for Microsoft's Office division, where he led the launch of Office 2007 and Office 2010, as well as server products.
