Microsoft plots restructuring

Published on .

Redmond, Wash. -- On Monday, the day before Microsoft Corp. entered into settlement talks in the antitrust case filed against it by the U.S. Department of Justice, the software giant outlined an expected restructuring. Under the plan, Microsoft would be divided into five groups: the business and enterprise division, focused on the information technology customer; the consumer Windows division; the business productivity group, focused on the ``knowledge worker''; the developer group; and the consumer and commerce group, focused on bringing consumers and businesses together online.
