Published on .

Redmond, Wash.--Microsoft Corp. on Monday posted a beta version of its new Windows Media 9 player, which the company claims can deliver TV-quality streaming content over a broadband connection. Moreover, the new player features digital rights management controls, which music and movie publishers have been demanding as a way of controlling the distribution of their content on the Internet. The new player can be downloaded at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp.
