Microsoft's Bing adds mobile, local search features

Published on .

Redmond, Wash.—Microsoft Corp. has added several new features to the mobile version of its Bing search engine to enhance local and search capabilities.

Bing Vision, currently available for the iPhone but scheduled to be included in Microsoft's own Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system, provides a variety of applications for smartphone users, including using the phone's camera function to search for words appearing on products, focus on a barcode to see product details, or aim the camera at a landmark to search for nearby business listings.

Users also can share their current location through Facebook, Foursquare or the activity stream of Windows Live.
