Redmond, Wash.—Microsoft Corp. has released a mobile version of its Bing Web browser for Apple's iPad tablet computer.

While the iPad version of Bing resembles the PC-based edition, the new app requests permission to get the user's location and features a slightly different lineup of categories on the left. Directions, movies and maps are new categories added to take advantage of mobile search. Among its features unique to mobile browsing: clicking on movies, for example, automatically displays nearby shows.

Major browsers also available for the iPad include Apple's built-in Safari, Opera Mini, Mozilla's Firefox and iCab.
