Redmond, Wash.--Microsoft on Monday announced a new version of BizTalk, the XML server it originally released in late 2000. Updates in BizTalk Server 2002 include better monitoring tools--for watching the performance of transactions--and a mechanism for sending a "seed" document to a trading partner that contains all the necessary configuration and connection information to enable cross-company communications. Microsoft, which claims 800 customers for BizTalk 2000, has held the price for the new server unchanged at $25,000 per CPU for the Enterprise Edition and $5,000 for the single-CPU Standard Edition.
