Mobile search ad revenue to grow to $1.4 billion in five years

Published on .

Princeton, N.J.—U.S. mobile search advertising revenue is expected to increase from $33.2 million this year to $1.4 billion in 2012, representing a compound annual growth rate of 112%, according to Kelsey Group, a local media Yellow Pages and electronic directory researcher, in a forecast published Monday.

Factors driving an increase in mobile advertising include the introduction of the iPhone, which Kelsey called a “transformative device,” and advertising-sponsored directory assistance.

The mobile search ad forecast is based on data from several sources, including interviews, company reports, market surveys and usage trends.
