Modem Media, DoubleClick report third-quarter Internet ad surge

Norwalk, Conn.--A pair of stalwarts in interactive advertising reported a blitz of new business in the third quarter. Modem Media.Poppe Tyson, Norwalk, said revenue rose 93% to $21.1 million, up from $10.9 million in the same period last year. Modem Media reported signing an $11 million contract with General Electric, as well as new clients The Industry Standard, Toyota and Starwood Hotels and Resorts. DoubleClick, New York, said it added 88 domestic and 16 international customers for its Internet advertising and reporting tool, dubbed Dart. Still dominated by consumer advertising, DoubleClick has started to see gains among business-to-business clients for its system, DoubleClick spokesperson Jennifer Blum said.
