Motorola in discussions for new agency relationships

Published on .

Phoenix—Motorola Corp. is seeking a new agency structure, according to a report in Advertising Age, a sibling publication of BtoB.

Motorola CMO Casey Keller told Ad Age in an interview that the company was in the process of finalizing a new agency alignment for consumer-directed marketing, with some decisions coming as soon as this week.

WPP Group’s Ogilvy & Mather, currently Motorola’s agency for Latin America and Asia, is being considered for additional duties in North America and possibly Europe, Keller said. Omnicom’s AMV BBDO, London, is the incumbent on the European assignment.

Also, two or three creative shops will be hired for additional projects, Keller said. Mother, New York and London, will be handling music devices and one or two other assignments.

Motorola is also reviewing its estimated $200 million to $300 million global media account. The incumbent for that business is WPP’s MindShare.
