Motorola Solutions reports first earnings as independent company

Schaumburg, Ill.—Motorola Solutions, which consists primarily of the continuing operations of the Enterprise Mobility Solutions segment of Motorola Inc., released its first quarterly earnings report as an independent company. (Motorola Inc. officially split into two companies, Motorola Solutions and Motorola Mobility, on Jan. 4.)

Motorola Solutions posted pro forma sales of $2.2 billion in the fourth quarter of last year, up 13% from the fourth quarter of 2009. In the same time frame, Motorola Solutions' pro forma operating earnings increased 12% to $279 million.

The new company posted pro forma sales of $7.9 billion for the full year 2010, up 10% compared with 2009. In the same time frame, the company's pro forma operating earnings increased 36% to $778 million.

Motorola Solutions said it anticipates revenue will increase 3% to 4% in the first quarter of this year.
