Motorola, Verizon said to be developing tablet

Published on .

New York—Motorola Inc. and Verizon Communications are reportedly teaming up to market a tablet device to give the iPad a run for its money.

The Financial Times on Wednesday said that the device, which will have a 10-inch screen and operate on Google’s Android software, could be launched as early as this fall in the U.S. The service was expected to be closely tied to Verizon’s FiOS digital pay-television service, FT added.

Asked to comment on the report, Tama McWhinney, a spokeswoman for Motorola, said, “We don’t comment on rumors.”
