The Wall Street Journal has hired Judy Barry as VP-marketing and business development. Barry founded Cappaneale Media Consulting, providing strategic consulting to marketing and media companies. Prior to starting her own business, she was group director for The New York Times Magazine .

Penton names Mollison, Blansfield group publishers

Penton Media has promoted Teri Mollison to group publisher with responsibility for the company's manufacturing, supply chain and metals groups. Mollison was formerly publisher of IndustryWeek . Additionally, Penton promoted David Blansfield to group publisher of the company's business technology and aviation groups. He was formerly group publisher of the business technology group.

ABM selects Flowers as VP-business development

American Business Media has named Claudia Flowers as its VP-business development. Flowers will focus on retaining current members and attracting new ones. Most recently, she was CFO for the medical research division of Wolters Kluwer Health. Previously, she held positions at Jordan, Edmiston Group, Thomson Corp. and McGraw-Hill Cos.

`Business Insurance' announces promotions in editorial, sales

Crain Communications' Business Insurance promoted Paul Winston to editorial director and Regis Coccia to editor. Winston had been the editor of Business Insurance for the past 10 years. In his new position, he is responsible for overseeing the publication's newly created interactive department. Coccia had been managing editor of the magazine for six years. He is now responsible for editorial management of the title and related editorial products. Additionally, Business Insurance announced that Chris Crain, a member of the sales team for the past three years, has been promoted to interactive sales manager.

Hanley Wood unit appoints Kramer to development post

Hanley Wood Marketing, a division of Hanley Wood, announced the hiring of Jennifer Kramer as director of new-business development. Kramer was previously president and owner of A Simple Plan, a new-business development firm based in Minneapolis. Hanley Wood Marketing provides marketing communications and brand strategy services to clients in the housing and construction industries.
